Digital Design

I’m following a Digital Design course.

For now, we are learning Adobe Illustrator

This is the first step of my first work.

We had to start from an autoportrait. We must cut it in piece and arrange them in an abstract collage. Then we had to re draw that collage in adobe illustrator

Here, you see the steps: 

For the autoportrait, I started from a drawing I made

Then you see the collage, the tracing of the pieces and the colouring of the pieces

With the leaves, the shadows and reflection on the support (below the vast and the flower), I call this done

What have I learn. Again the use of the gradient mesh and the use of the opacity mask.

Use of Gradient Mesh to color a form with some detailled color variations.

It’s not easy at the beginning but it’s worth the effort of understand how this works.

What have I learned ?

Create a 3D looking object based on a line and use of the “3D revolution” option of Illustrator.

Automatically repeat and arrange a form (the round dots)

Apply a flat form (the dots repetition) on a 3D looking object (the round dots are deformed according to the surface of the vase).
